October 2012 Update
Tino is sweet, fun-loving, carefree boy. We believe he is a mix of Dachshund and Red Heeler, which makes this little guy very loyal, smart and eager to please. Tino is around 4-5 years old, weighs approx 25lb, and stands 13” tall at the shoulder.
Tino has a big loving heart and a crazy tongue, and will kiss you all over. He craves human interaction and loves to snuggle on your lap, petted for hours upon hours, or to play fetch in the backyard.
Tino loves all men, women and children. He can be little picky about other dogs but lives happily in a home with 3 other dogs - wrestling, chasing and snuggling with them.
Tino will do well in any home that has room for him to play and gives him freedom to stretch his legs by having a big backyard, regular walks or even jogging as he would be an excellent jogging partner. Keeping this little guy locked in a kennel all day or in a small room will make him bored and antsy. He prefers lounging out in the backyard during day - chasing squirrels and the occasional bird and snuggling with the family, watching tv, in the evening. He loves sleeping in his kennel at night.
If you’re looking for a playful dog like Tino but already have dogs who you’re not sure he’ll get along with, please consider John Kennedy who loves other dogs and is looking for a BFF (Best Friend Forever).
Tino and John Kennedy are foster brothers, so you can meet both when you ask to meet one.
Here's a video of Tino taking treats gently.
Tino is a very special boy between 2-4 years old and weighs in at 27 lbs! Yes, he’s “big boned”. We think he is a Standard Doxie crossed with Jack Russell Terrier and maybe a little something else.
Tino loves both men and women (not sure about children yet). He is a gentle soul, that’s learning he’s a little bigger than other doxie’s so he’s been learning to play gently with them. He also loves to be loved on and petted just as much as other doxies. He loves to play with his ball, and with our other foster, Jaeger a tweenie. He doesn’t necessarily need a buddy, if his new parents will play with him for few hours a day or take him for long walks.
Tino loves his crate, we leave the door open and find him in his kennel all the time... just hanging out or grooming himself. Since he’s been at our house he’s not had a single accident inside the house and knows exactly what to do when he’s outside. He’s also super well behaved while taking a bath, he just stands patiently in the shower while we bathe him – he’s an absolute angel!!
Tino does have a lot of energy for a doxie, but this can be expended with some ball playing – he retrieves the ball and brings it back... most of the time! He has shown to be extremely trainable as he is treat motivated, eager to please and very smart – learning sit in 1 day! Please consider adopting this well-behaved, loveable big boy.
