Miss Dior is a precious piebald girl who was hit by a car.
After multiple surgeries, she is finally resting comfortably
at her foster home. Please consider donating to help with
some of her medical expenses.
Saving one dog may not change the world,
but the world will surely change for that one dog.
A Prayer from the Boys
Please send me a Foster, who'll love me and care,
I was tired of running, and sick with despair.
My body was aching, and so racked with pain,
Till DRoH came and got me from out of the rain.
Just someone to love me and give me a home,
With a warm cozy bed I can call all my own.
My last owner abused me and chased me away,
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
All the girl dachs get fosters, they’re cute and petite,
But I promise we boy dachs are equally sweet.
We’re boys with such warmth and devotion to give,
All we want is a new chance to love and to live.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, these lucky pups have arrived safely at DRoH.
They are all about a year old, mostly longhaired, and their ancestors are all
purebred with pedigrees. You can help by fostering or sponsoring them.
Shaggy is one of the "Scooby Doo Gang",
four dogs abandoned in a crate in front
of a shelter. Shaggy was heartworm positive
and had a severe case of mange.
He is now a healthy happy guy
with a tail that spins like a propeller!
Over 200 Dogs Rescued by Houston SPCA May 18, 2011
At the request of the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, the
Houston SPCA helped rescue over 200 dogs from a large-scale
dog breeding operation in nearby Waller County.
We have agreed to take ALL TWELVE of the rescued Dachshunds.
They will be known as "The Brady Bunch"!
Please help by donating or fostering.
Adopt a Senior
Many times people are afraid to adopt an older dog - not because they don't like them, or are afraid of any extra care or money
that might be needed - but because of how soon they might lose them. But death is a part of life. Imagine giving a senior dog a loving,
secure, and happy retirement home for whatever time he has left. His life, and yours, will be richer for it.
Our Adoption Fee for Seniors (10 and older) is only $150.
G. Hewett:
I've adopted "seniors" and they are perfect, particularly for senior humans.
They are calm, quiet, loving companions who don't require the activity that younger babies do.
They are perfectly content relaxing and being quiet with you. They would be good with younger people who
lead a more sedate lifestyle, too. Those of us who are older have no business adopting young animals who need
a lot of activity to release all their youthful energy. We no longer have it in us to keep them happy.
C. D'Arcy:
As the owner of 3 Dachshunds, one which will turn 8 this wk, let me say...you would not know he is that old....
he is just so much fun! he was 4 when i got him...never been an inside dog..or even a "pet"....
used for breeding only....he was so easy to train & is strictly an inside pet now! go adopt a senior!
J. Bugel:
My 16 year old dachshund, who I've had since he was a puppy, is AWESOME! He may be hard of hearing and almost fully blind,
but he still runs like new. The best part of owning a senior is that they are not interested in toys or barking at squirrels.
All they want is to snooze next to you while you watch TV, or lay down in your lap while you're on the computer.
I would definately encourage everyone to ADOPT A SENIOR... You won't regret it!!!
M. Weiman:
My Harley just turned 17 in June. He may be blind (recent), but he still enjoys his life, and barking, and eating
and napping!!! 8 pounds of stubbornness , but gosh do we love him!
