Update from Josey's foster Mom:
Josey is a very sweet & playful doxie. She had a bit of a hard time adapting to her foster home the first 24 hours, as we decided to keep her separated from our own doxie since Josey is just over 7 pounds & our doxie is a standard-size 24 pounds. Just being cautious. The second night, we put them to bed together to sleep, and that was when the fun started! She was a new, bouncy, happy cutiepie when we let them outside that morning. She turned on like a lightswitch & has not reverted back to her initial fears. Josey & our doxie are now best buddies. They play & snuggle together constantly & are never apart. Josey needs a dog buddy when she is adopted to continue helping her with her confidence & make a transition easier. She is very loving to her foster parents, too. She likes to snuggle in a lap, under a arm, behind a back - anywhere to keep in physical contact with us.
She is still a little skittish around young children & loud noises, even another dog's bark. She's beginning to get used to the occasional bark, though. Josey herself is extremely quiet. She doesn't whine & didn't bark at all until her 4th day with us, and that was just once. She absolutely loves to play with toys & will carry anything off to a secret corner if you're not careful (slippers, shoes, socks, etc.) to claim as her toy. It's adorable to see her tiny little self carrying a man-sized slipper!
She's been eating really well & putting some weight back on. Her skin is improving every day. She will have a beautiful chocolate coat in no time. We've been helping her learn to walk on a leash, and she's doing very well with it. We introduced her to our dog couch & gave her a box so that she can get up on it by herself. She and our doxie chase each other on & off it, stealing toys back and forth, & playing tug-o-war with the toys. Her house training is going well, also, with only 2 accidents in 5 days. She'll have it down pat very soon.
She's a sweetheart, and we adore her.
from her Spring Fling presentation:
Miss Martha is the last of the Beaumont Quartet still on the “available” roster of DroH. This tiny drop of chocolate would just love to be part of your life. She is sweet, cuddly and tiny – what a great carry companion! Her coat is is the not so common chocolate color, which is just showing what a sweet thing she is. She loves to play with her siblings and doesn't really know she's tiny. She will carry off a stray slipper or unguarded toy, but happily shares if it means playtime! You can be on a diet and still have this little bit of cocoa in your home!
