For Bubba
Bubba passed away on Monday July 26th at 2:30am. He was laid to rest beside our beloved Princess. He will be greatly missed.
As you know he had been very ill those last few weeks. On Saturday he went out into the backyard for the first time since he became sick. He played hide and seek in the grass and soaked up the sunshine. He spent Sunday quietly, late in the night he died peacefully in his favorite place with Joseph beside him. We are so grateful that he was comfortable and able to pass away at home with his family. We deeply appreciate our Vet's compassion and understanding. She remained on twenty-four hour call in case Bubba needed her.
We feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to invite this wonderful guy into our home. Despite his age, he was full of life, and love, and mischief. He joined right in the fun with our other doxies as they played badger-badger and chase me. He made friends with everyone he met. I'll miss that baritone bark and John Wayne swagger. He loved to eat. When he didn't get enough he'd grab up his bowl, trot into Grandma, plop it on the floor in front of her, and bark.
In Bubba's memory I'd like to appeal to others to foster and adopt older doxies. Knowing what we do, despite the heartbreak of losing him, we'd do it all again. Many times these older fellas have poured out their love and loyalty to someone who has themselves grown old and can no longer care for them. Age does not necessitate being cast aside, not with humans and not with the doxies who love them. We owe these people and these dear creatures dignity and care. No doxie is expendable, no life less precious than another. When you open your heart to a doxie your love is returned many times over. Not only is this still true with older doxies, it is all the more so. Before someone says no to an older doxie, I want to invite them to think about Bubba.
Thank-you for the opportunity to share our lives with this sweet guy. Although we feel deeply grieved, we know that he is happy in Heaven with our Lord. How much God must love us to have created these special creatures. Ann Munn

We have many senior doxies that end up in Dachshund Rescue by no fault of their own. These dogs are wonderful pets and are often the best kind of dog to adopt. They are housetrained, don't require much exercise and LOVE to snuggle. We have a few angels that have stepped forward to make sure that these seniors see the lap of luxury in their golden years. Please think about becoming an angel today, there doxies just waiting for you...
