How you can help

Become a Foster Parent

The BEST WAY you can help us is to be a foster parent to a dachshund in need. We are in constant demand of full-time approved foster homes. The dachshunds that we take in are so innocent and often just need a little TLC to help them learn that not all people are so awful. If you would be interested in fostering a dachshund, please read more here!

If you can't foster full time, could you help us for a week or two at the holiday times: Christmas, Thanksgiving or 4th of July? When foster parents go on vacation at holiday times, we need temporary foster homes until they return. If you would be interested in fostering ONLY at the holiday time, please read about fostering here and then contact us via e-mail as ALL foster help is greatly appreciated.

Post our Adoption Flyer

Do you have a favorite hang out, or a place you always see lots of other dogs? Please post our Dachshund Rescue Flyer as you travel around Houston. It has pictures of the variety of dachshunds folks can find with us and information about how to find our website. Please help us and get the word out about Dachshund Rescue.

Tell your Friends and Family about us

The next best way to help us is to simply tell your friends and family about us. Word of mouth is the most common way we find adopting homes and volunteers. While we do have strict adoption policies, we are working constantly to find the most appropriate homes for our babies. Please share your positive experiences of Dachshund Rescue with anyone you meet.

Donate Funds or Supplies

Of course monetary donations are ALWAYS appreciated and will be used to help the sickest dachshunds.
Another way you can help us is to donate supplies. While vetting a dachshund can be expensive, we often spend our own money to maintain our day to day operations among our the rescued dachshunds we are fostering. We need:

~ Dry dog food
~ Dog collars, length 8 to 18"
~ Towels and blankets (new or used) for bathing, burrowing under, or sleeping on
~ Dog crates and dog beds (any size, new or used)

~ Cow hooves, Nylabones, dog toys
~ Heartgard or Tri-Heart Plus heartworm pills

Mail donated items to:

or email us to arrange for pickup.
